What’s Up With Shared Responsibility Teams (SRT) 

Every member (male or female, married or single, young or old) of Immanuel Lutheran Church has been randomly assigned to one of four Shared Responsibility Teams (SRT). I know you’ve heard us say many hands make light work, so please say YES when you are called to help with others on your SRT! 

The main duties that SRT members share are: 

Hosting the fellowship coffee after weekly church services:

(each SRT hosts 3 months a year, so individuals should expect to help 2 to 3 Sundays per year) 

Set tables
Make coffee & lemonade
Plate donuts
Clean up
(Your children are also welcome to help on Sundays!) 

Hosting meals after funerals:

(each SRT provides 3-6 people per funeral, so individuals should expect to help at a minimum of 2 funerals per year) 

Set tables
Make coffee & lemonade
Help the head cook with last minute tasks
Assist at the serving table
Clean up
Bake or purchase bars or cookies if not available to assist at church in perso

Lenten soup suppers
(each SRT hosts one Lenten meal per year) 

Bake or purchase bars or cookies if not available to assist at church in person
Make a big batch of soup (2 kinds needed)
Set tables
Make coffee & lemonade
Clean up
 

Occasional miscellaneous calls for help: 

Spring cleaning at church
Annual kitchen clean up
Other tasks as needed and announced 

If you have not received calls to help with any of these tasks, your name may have been removed from the SRT list because at some time in the past, you told someone you couldn’t help due to illness, family responsibilities, work responsibilities, or something similar. If your life situation has since changed, please let Debbi Carlson know that you are available to help again, and she will put your name back on the SRT list. Look forward to a call from your SRT captain. Serving provides a great way to make friends within your faith family at Immanuel!

SRT Captains needed! Feel the tap on your shoulder? 

With the member ministry position eliminated in the office, we are in an especially dire need of captains for two of the four SRTs. Duties of the captains include: 

• Ordering and picking up donuts from SuperOne for fellowship time on Sundays (total of 10-12 weeks a year)
• Calling/texting SRT members on your team to serve for Sunday coffee or funerals as they occur (you will receive everyone’s contact information)
• Explaining/delegating kitchen duties on Fellowship Sundays and at funerals. (we can provide you with training and a detailed checklist to share with your team)

  One person, male or female, can serve as an SRT captain on their own, but it is more fun & efficient to share the duties between 2 or 3 co-captains. Perhaps you can talk a friend(s) into serving as a co-captain(s) with you, or you can ask Debbi if she can find a co-captain to work with you. Being a snowbird does not exclude you from serving as a captain since you can take a calling list with you!
